New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society

Our mission is to fully restore the Baldwin 4-8-4 Steam Locomotive, AT&SF No. 2926, to operational status. 2015 is destined to be a monumental year for the AT&SF 2926 restoration project - it's the year in which the Society plans to finish the restoration and fire-up the engine for the first time in nearly 62 years. Over the past 11 years or so, Society members have invested over 121,000 labor hours and $2.0M. We are more confident than ever that the thunder of 2926 and the wail of her whistle will be heard once again soon . . .

Welcome aboard to the unfolding story of Santa Fe 2926!

STEAM IN 2015 SPONSORSHIP CAMPAIGN

This may be the last campaign to fund parts for direct application to the locomotive before the restoration is complete. If you want in the game and still want your name immortalized in the project, Click HERE to contribute.

Help us build an Engine House to protect YOUR investment!

Dear Members, Friends and Fans of AT&SF2926:

You have stood behind the New Mexico Steam Locomotive and Railroad Historical Society helping us amass nearly $2.0M dollars in cash, donated goods and services and over 121,000 hours of volunteer labor in an effort to bring AT&SF 2926 back to operational condition.  After 15 years, complete restoration of the 2926 is near.  The Society announced last year that it hopes to fire-up the locomotive by year’s end and begin test trials. We are working towards commitments for her first passenger excursions.

Madeline Schmitt helps us pitch our Engine House Campaign August 8th, 2015

Please help us reach our goal by August 2015 so we can finish construction before winter sets in!

The Society is rapidly approaching the final tasks of applying a boiler insulation blanket and new sheet metal skin, mounting her jewelry (beautiful bell, brass gauges, builder's plate, headlight, etc.), and a finish coat of paint.  A finished 2926 must not sit in the open with rain and snow and vandals and thieves. We simply must put her under cover SOON.

The perfect solution is to build an Engine House as a fully enclosed metal building with roll-up doors at our current work site. Please seriously consider donating soon so we can get that building built. Our crowd funding campaign can be found at http://www.gofundme.com/SantaFe2926. Please tell all your friends and relatives and ask them for their support. As Society President Mike Hartshorne often likes to quote: "adde parvum parvo magnus acervus erit" - adding a little bit to a little bit, much is achieved!
