As most of you know the general construction of the engine house/garage is complete. The electrical work is yet to be finished.
Crews were sprucing up the 2926 and preparing it for the official roll-out of the engine from it’s new house.
Workers installed the bell, headlamp, engine numbers and boiler plates. They no longer will be subjected to unauthorized removal. The 2926, for the first time in 60 years, has a roof over her head! Thanks to all the donors big and small for yet another milestone event in the life of the 2926.
As last week, volunteers continued work on the air brake system as well as locating small leaks at various valves and unions.
The cab crew is finalizing the fit-up of the cab window frames to the cab.
As of now the last flexible staybolt sleeve repair has been completed. The next boiler air test will let us know for sure.
The machinists have finished the tool to reface the washout plug seats. One was restored last week.
Don’t forget the Grand Opening of the Engine House/Garage this Saturday starting at 10 AM sharp! Workers need to be here at the normal time of 7:30 AM to set up everything we need.
Hope to see you at the site, and as always . . .
Keep on steamin’,
