April 4, 2016
Much of the work this past week is similar to the last.
Our air brake crew is still fabricating brackets and either bolting or welding them in place. Air tank supports were fabricated this week.
Volunteers began grinding the welded driver brake shoe backing supports. More are being restored this coming week.
Men continued removing old paint from the turret cover. The paint is silver rust bullet applied several years ago and does not come off easily.
The work of flexible staybolt plug tightening is ongoing. I estimate 3/4 of them are finished.
The machine shop is still reconditioning the large washout plugs.
The last segment of steam line from the turret to the hot water pump was installed.
****This week is our General Meeting starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning. Come early if you can to help put out chairs.****
Hope to see everyone on the site this week, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
