Work Session Status Week Ending 02/06/2016

Two more cold morning starts and mild afternoons this week.

Work continues on designing and fabricating air brake control components. Careful considerations are being applied regarding ease of access and maintenance.

Various parts and control rods are being sandblasted and painted.

Gauges and instruments in the cab are being located for ease of visibility and adhering as close as possible to their original locations per available photographs.

More lubrication lines were re-bent and installed.

The turret cover was retrieved from storage. Old rusty door retention chains were removed and measured so new ones can be procured. Workers began reconditioning it, removing old paint and straightening bent metal parts.

Special parts for the cold water flow meter sensor were machined and welded together.

Final planning is being prepared as to various locations of electrical and structural items to be included for the final engine house blueprints.

Our next “Refresher” Safety class is proposed to be 2/20/16. The next “New Member” Safety Orientation is proposed to be on 2/27/16. So if you can be present at either of these two sessions please contact Jon Spargo at kc5ntw@sdc.org. I’m sure he’d like to know if you will attend. Those who have never been to a new member safety class will need to be at the one on 2/27/16, even if you came to the one on 1/23/16. You must go through a New Member Safety Class before being able to work on the site.

It’s a beautiful day at the site today and another good one expected for Saturday. High 60’s feels good after the weather we’ve been having! Hope to see you at the site this week, and as always . . .
