Work Session Status Week Ending 03/28/2015

Besides the ongoing projects of jacketing stud replacements, lube line flushing and superheater piping fabrications the 80” drivers got new shoes. The locomotive was rolled over the pit to help workers install the heavy brake shoes and their hangers. Preliminary slack adjustments were done.

Volunteers have been working some extra time hanging the throttle quadrant. The machine shop is fabricating new stud bolts for it. There are several different lengths required to secure the quadrant.

Work began to finish the seating of the flexible staybolt plugs. Our torque wrench has been sent to have it calibrated to insure each plug has been tightened the same.

Various parts are still undergoing the cleaning and painting process. Cab guage brackets and jump seat supports were among those receiving paint.

There are several broken studs which attach the ash pan to the mud ring. We have begun to remove and replace those.

Other preparations are being made for the hydro test in the coming months.
