As most of you know we begin our Winter hours this Wednesday. Work sessions will begin at 9:00 am until next Spring.
With the work completed on the crossheads and side rods our attention has been turned to the timing gear assemblies. Much of our time so far has been relocating the various parts and fasteners. They are being cleaned, painted and fit checked.
The machine shop has been busy fabricating new air brake lever pins and bushings. Most of the originals are badly worn. The folio indicates pins and bushings are to be hardened prior to assembly. We will be speaking to a local shop which can harden those parts all at one time.
We are also setting up our equipment to begin flushing lubrication lines.
Another upcoming project will be cutting the tubes and flues to the proper length.
Final work on the merchandise store is ongoing. When complete the store will be able to secure sale items from the elements.
Hope to see you at the site this week, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
