The process of tramming the engineer’s side crosshead is on-going. We are proceeding carefully with the adjustments so as not to damage the heavy guide in any way.
Flexible staybolt sleeve welding continues. The full replacements are more time consuming than just the repair sleeves.
One more superheater bundle was completed and stored. And those continue to be sold on our website if you’re interested. Stay tuned for the next website project campaign once this is completed.
Various bolt sleeves were being removed from the trailing truck brake equipment. Many of them are worn on one side. Measurements are being done to procure replacements.
Saturday preparations began for this year’s open house on September 27th. The cab was reinstalled on the locomotive so the viewing stairs could be rebuilt. The stairs we used in past years fell victim to Mother Nature’s wrath sometime earlier this summer in a microburst that tipped them over and destroyed them.
Hope to see everyone this week at the site.
And as usual . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
