Our work session was again limited to Saturday. Track repair is expected to resume Thursday so we plan to have a normal work session on Wednesday.
This week superheater work continued as usual. Fabrication of the first row of eight pipe superheater assemblies is nearing an end. Once complete, new measurements will be taken to fabricate the 2nd row.
More wasted flexible staybolt sleeves were removed and ground down flush to the boiler shell.
Inside the firebox volunteers began re-tapping the inner firebox flexible staybolt threads. Some of these threads are in poor condition. Some twenty-nine holes will be uniformly re-tapped with the special taper tap so new staybolts can be fabricated.
Saturday the 14th, after the June General Membership Meeting, Jon S. will be conducting a new member orientation. If anyone missed all the refresher safety classes earlier this year you may attend this class which will qualify you to work on the site.
See you at the site this week, and as usual…
Keep on Steamin’,
