Work Session Status Week Ending 03/22/2014

Hello all,

This week we began installing jigs on the long welding table to start fabricating superheater piping. The first set of the large bifurcate assemblies was cut to length.

Work continued on the lubrication distributors and two more are ready for paint and installation.

Danny R. returned from vacation and began overlay welding of small wasted areas on the back head.

The cab crew resumed reconditioning electrical conduit boxes and switches.

Removal of more wasted flexible staybolt sleeves continues. New sleeve replacements and staybolts will be ordered.

A 1 1/2″ air brake tee pipe was fabricated to replace one welded many years ago. The quality of the welds on the fabricated piece was questionable prompting replacement.

Various areas of frame cleaning continued preparing them for paint.

Flexible staybolts on the bottom of the boiler, which are very hard to reach, were being cleaned of calcium deposits.

For those of you that wanted to know about Gail’s surgery and how it went, she came to the site Saturday for a short time and to greet those there. She said she appreciates everyone’s thoughts and prayers for her during this time. Still healing to be done and she can’t have PT until after May 30th which is her next appointment with the doc. She had another back fusion to go with the one she already had. All that pain is gone which is a relief to her for sure. She says it was worth the wait for her neurosurgeon who is very busy. She first called him in July sometime of 2013. So she had to withstand much pain before surgery in February. Thank you all very much.

This week again looks like spring weather. Nice lately and has been in the 60’s. Hope to see you all at the site, and as always . . .
