Since the last TW3 Madam Secretary, Gail and I left for a week and attended the Golden Spike 150 year anniversary celebration along with the UP 4014 and 844 steam locomotives. There were thousands of people on hand.
This past week was spent preparing for the 75th birthday of our own 2926. Wednesday was a wash-down and clean-up day.
Saturday began early as chairs, tent tops and equipment was set up. Our band “Jazz a la Carte” began playing at 10 AM sharp until 1:00 PM. By the end of the day well over 700 visitors young and old came to wish our 2926 a happy birthday.
Many thanks go out to all the volunteers going the extra mile in making the celebration a success. Special thanks go out to the following businesses for providing birthday cakes; Costco at Renaissance, Sam’s Club at Renaissance, Smith’s Food & Drug Centers, Shamrock Food Service Warehouse, B & H Wholesale provided a Sno-Cone machine and Taylor Restaurant Equipment came in with a soft serve ice cream machine and donated it’s supplies. A young boy brought in a birthday cake with cupcakes he and his mother had made.
Another safety class is going to be soon. If you are interested in coming to the class please email Jon Spargo @ kc5ntw@sdc.org. If you are a new member I have given your info to Jon already. He’ll contact you to see if you’re interested.
Also, as a reminder, if you think you have not paid your membership it’s past time to renew. Please contact Gail at this address or send in your payment to NMSL&RHS, PO Box 27270, ABQ, NM 87125. Memberships are $30 for Individual, $50 for Family and $500 for Lifetime.
Hope to see the “Regulars” this week at the site, and as usual . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
