January 30, 2019
Since we decided to install modern sight glass valves a new bracket had to be fabricated and installed.
Now that the tender has been reunited with the engine a new emergency fuel shut-off cable was measured and installed.
The jump seat, behind the engineer, has been fitted with a foot rest. It has now been disassembled for a trip to the paint shop.
We’ve had some very cold days for us in Albuquerque, nothing like up in the north and mid west to eastern seaboard, however work did slow down a bit with fewer volunteers arriving on site.
The sheet metal crew has begun fitting the joint covers around the smokebox. An arduous task to say the least!
February 9th will be the make-up refresher class on site. It will begin at 0900 in the reefer office, after the General Meeting that begins at 0830.
Thanks to everyone that has sent in their renewal memberships and any donations. If you paid your membership renewal in the last quarter of 2018 or at our Open House event, you’re good to go until 1/2020 or next Christmas card with a renewal reminder. Those who wish to remain members please send in the membership donation ASAP. We’ll have some major expenses coming up in 2019. We appreciate each of you, but Gail, Madam Secretary, hates to write those emails to remind people to pay or be put on the lapsed list. If you’ve forgotten, this is just a friendly reminder.
Hope to see everyone at the site this week, and as usual . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
