Since my last report most of the crew was routinely transforming our work site into an exhibition area for Saturday’s open house. The final site clean up was completed along with pre-staging of tables, chairs and tarps for shade.
The engine and tender received a good pressure washing and polish with the secret sauce provided by Dri Wash N Guard International.
On Saturday the engine was rolled out prior to sun-up and final set up of the exhibition areas began. People were waiting to go in before the 9:00 start time. At the end of the day some 2000 rail fans from various parts of the United States passed through our gates. Hotdogs were grillin’, drinks were chillin’ and the four bands were playin’ and changin’ every few hours.
By 5:00 all the excited was over and everything had to be stowed away until needed again. Thanks to all the volunteers who worked hard to make this year’s open house a great success!
Things will be back to normal this week, putting things back in their normal places and getting back to work on the engine and other tasks. Hope to see you at the site, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
