Outreach

The NMSL&RHS has an extensive educational and outreach program to give the public access to information concerning the status of our efforts to restore AT&SF locomotive No. 2926 and on the history of railroading in New Mexico.

Key elements of our program:

Educational Program
The Society can provide information packages on railroad history and technology for use by teachers of children from kindergarten through grade 12. Class visits can be arranged by contacting the Society.

Newsletters
Newsletters are issued quarterly to update members on progress of the restoration and other news items of interest on railroading. Those Newsletters can also be found on the web site HERE.

Open Houses
Open Houses are held annually in the fall (usually late Septmber or early October) to offer the public the opportunity to tour the restoration facility and see first-hand the restoration progress on the locomotive and tender. Check our Events page for the time and date of the next Scheduled Open House.

Site Visits
During Wednesday and Saturday work sessions, the site is normally open to the public, including escorted tours of the restoration site and the locomotive. Check the web-site front page (uppper left hand side-bar) for current working hours as those hours shift between the Summer and Winter seasons.

Lectures
Lectures on the 2926 restoration effort are available to interested organizations, including audio/visual presentations.
