Wednesday’s work session greeted us with a slow drizzling rain. By 2:00 pm the temps dropped like a rock and the heavy rain was falling sideways with snow mixed in with it.
We managed to get a few projects done.
A cab drain pipe had been cut off at the floor during the demo. Several were cut off because the unions were rusted solid. A replacement piece was cut and welded to the remaining piece then installed.
More work was done on the lubrication system this week. The two driver flange lubricators were located and prepped for installation.
The thick steel mounting plate for two of the air brake controls under the stand. Holes were drilled for the mounting bolts.
Various metal parts were cut for our in-house designed driver brake shoe grinder. The new shoes are in need of contouring to fit the 80″ drivers.
The air brake leaks I wrote about last week were being repaired as needed.
This week we should have reasonable weather for working outdoor.
As a reminder to check our website for the details of the upcoming “refresher” training session for members that have gone through safety on 1/23/16. Please plan to arrive early with something to write on and pen in hand. There’s a lot to do before the training gets started such as signing in and getting your hardhat sticker for the new year.
Hope to see everyone at the site, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
