Our work soldiers on as volunteers provided more jacketing templates for the fabricators as finished ones were being installed. The backhead jacketing is all but finished. I expect the reinstallation of the cab piping to begin next week (this week).
The foundry crew are still hard at work perfecting their craft while more silicon bronze rod is being applied to the buffer plate.
Small parts work has begun in Ohio on the tool car. These items are being cleaned and prepped for paint. The Board on Saturday all agreed to have the trucks painted silver as seen on past photos while the car was in service. If you haven’t given to our Tool Car GoFundMe campaign it’s not too late! Check it out on our web site at www.2926.us. Can’t miss it there!
Workers continue installing small bore piping from the cab to the front of the locomotive. These pipes are associated with braking system in case we are not the lead engine.
Hand rails and their pedestals are being installed. Some of the pedestals are needing some retrofitting due to the new flexible staybolt sleeves.
Saturday, March 10th is our General Meeting at 8:30 AM and shortly after that meeting, hopefully 9:00, our safety officer will present the first new member orientation of 2018 in the Reefer office. Anyone who intends to work on site must attend this program.
A reminder email has gone out to those who need to renew their memberships. A big thank you to those that have paid their renewals either by mail or PayPal. If we don’t hear from you you’ll keep getting reminders during the month.
The week looks good and dry for weather so come on out and join the crew, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
