March 10, 2015
No boiler tube work was performed for the last two weeks. Our contractor had to spend extra time out of town due to weather related delays of material deliveries. They have however resumed work this week.
The throttle quadrant has been repaired and painted. Some of the stud bolts that attach it to the backhead are being removed to facilitate its installation.
Superheater piping is progressing quite well as that crew is working three days per week. Kudos to those men putting in the extra hours to speed this work along.
Various parts are being fabricated and/or cleaned for the future hydro test.
Broken stud bolts are being removed and replaced. These studs provide attachment points for various pipes and footboards.
The machine shop continues to fabricate brake pins, bushings, stud bolts and various pieces of equipment as needed.
Work continues on the cab as small parts, conduits and switches are being installed.
Work began to remove the lower air intake baffle. The shaft and bearing surfaces need to be repaired due to wear. That work has been put on hold due to minimal access due to the temporary work platform constructed for entry into the firebox and boiler tube work.
The March General Membership meeting is this Saturday beginning at 8:30 AM.
Hope to see you all at the site this week, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
