Well folks as of the close of this Saturday’s work session we installed both pistons, both cylinder heads and the fireman’s side link arm.
Wednesday we will install the engineer’s side link arm along with several other tasks.
We are preparing for a test run on our site the 20th and/or 21st of this month. If all things are accomplished we will be live streaming on the 21st on Instagram and possibly Facebook about 12:00 noon MST, however it may be earlier due to the boiler being preheated.
The tool car left it’s repair facility this week and went to Chicago where BNSF and NS couldn’t seem to get their paperwork straightened out. Bob D., fully frustrated, got the top dogs at BNSF involved and they said it will be rolling shortly. The original Waybill schedule was for it to arrive at our site this Wednesday afternoon. Now that won’t happen.
The electricians were able to get the Golden Glow headlight lit with one of the dynamos for the first time since the early 50’s. They were also hooking up the cab radio equipment.
The intricate work of prefabricating the cab floor wood planks continues. The metal floor has received a good coating of Rust Bullet paint to deter any rust under the wood floor.
As always the jacketing work progresses as fast as possible. There are many obstacles to work around.
This week’s weather seems to be looking good, so I hope to see everyone that are regulars to come on down; look forward to seeing everyone, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
