This past week marked the end of the winter work hours until further notice.
So most of you know there will be no Wednesday work sessions until the siding track repairs are complete which will most likely last four weeks. No one except designated persons will be allowed on site during the construction. However the site will be open on Saturdays and we will do what we can. The summer work ours are the same as last year. Our sessions will begin at 7:30 am and continue until the heat or our lack of stamina runs us out the gate.
This past week one more superheater pipe bundle was completed. The fabrication jigs make it easier to fit up the pieces.
More backhead overlay welding was done with feather grinding to follow. When finished new UT measurements will be taken and entered into the database.
One hired welder was on site for five days this week. He welded on more large flexible staybolt repair sleeves.
Elsewhere on site preparations were being made to clear the construction area on both sides of the track. The locomotive was moved to a safe distance. Many hours have gone into the planning for the repair of our siding. Much appreciation goes out to Don Mac. and Frank G. for doing the lion’s share of this prep work.
Please enjoy your Wednesdays off during this time. See you on Saturday, and until then . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
