April 30, 2019
To begin with, this coming Wednesday is May 1st which brings on the summer work hours for those of you that are regular workers. Sessions will begin at 7:30 AM.
Last week we removed the injector control valve along with two of it’s male counter parts. They were taken to an expert machine shop to have the mating surfaces refinished. We have been unable to get those union connections to hold test pressure.
This week they were reinstalled and are still seeping air a bit. More head scratching to be done.
The slide-out tray for the 120/12 volt generator was completed. The mounting rails will now be installed.
Speaking of generators our #2 dynamo is still giving us problems as our workers troubleshoot the problem.
I received word last week that all of our tool car wheels and axles passed inspection, so the trucks can begin the reassembly process.
This past Tuesday we hired a concrete cutting company to come in and cut away about 3″ of concrete which paralleled the track on both sides. The concrete was restricting the car mover’s ability to move the engine in and out of the engine house. With the engine and or tender partially full of water we weren’t getting enough traction on the rails. Saturday the traction was much better.
If you got an email about renewals from Madam Secretary, please be prompt in renewing your membership. We got many responses from that first email, so she will send another soon. Again, if you don’t know if you have paid or not, please respond to this email address and ask. Also, if you do not wish to continue your membership please let us know. We appreciate your support!
Also coming up is the big 75th birthday party for the 2926. It is May 18th from 10-1. Send her a birthday card if you can’t come so we can put it on her that day. We have magnets to place them on her and we’ll take photos of the whole party. We are having free cake and soft serve ice cream and Sno Cones. Please come if you can!
Hope to see everyone this week at the site, as as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
