As many of you know we have been having problems with the steam fountain assembly for some time now. The whole assembly was disconnected and the main shut-off valve removed revealing several problems.
The thin bonnet threads were in bad condition along with the valve seat. The fountain was taken to our offsite machine shop which we have used in the past for special tasks. The seat and threads will be reconditioned. After the metallurgy inspection comes back we will obtain some material so the machine shop can fabricate a new bonnet. A new valve stem will be fabricated on site.
One slice of good news is the second dynamo was tested with air pressure and is now ready to be reinstalled Wednesday.
The tool car repairs are moving ahead as welding on both A & B bolsters revealed cracks in various places. These were detected via dye penetrant.
The electricians have been working on several systems doing planning and installations.
Revisions to the small generator location are being done to make more room for the 12 volt battery location.
A new Membership form has been reworded to give everyone knowledge when the membership is due and how long each year they are good for. This should appear on the website soon and copies will be on our site as well. There should be no question in anyone’s mind when they are due.
***Our General Membership meeting will begin this Saturday at 8:00 AM. Immediately following at 9:00 AM is the New Member Safety class in the Reefer Office.***
Hope to see everyone this week, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
