Since our successful hydrostatic boiler test workers have been inserting superheater bundles on each side of the boiler leaving a work area in the middle.
We had superheater header plugs fabricated so as each column of superheater bundles can be tested for leaks before moving on to the next column. After testing another column plugs are removed and the process begins again.
Cab work continues as sight glasses are being installed.
Preparations are being made for the insulation to be put in place on the smoke box after the superheater bundles have been installed.
Air reservoir piping is being routed to the front of the engine while air brake piping is being installed on the tender from the front to the rear for diesel engine connections.
Tender letters and number stencils are being installed then traced onto the tender. The new paint is then scoured a bit inside the tracings so the letter and number paint will adhere.
A new draw bar pin has been fabricated to replace one which was heavily pitted.
The next new member orientation and safety class will be August the 12th in the Reefer Office at 9:00 AM sharp.
Gail has been trying to send out the latest 2nd Quarter Newsletter with no luck. It all comes back as “blocked” for some unknown reason. We’ll see what we can do to get to everyone. If you don’t see it in your inbox, you might have to see it on the web site.
Monsoons have been here the past few evenings and weather at the site has been a bit damp. Hope to see all who can make this week at the site, and as always . . .
