August 31, 2014
Mid Wednesday morning we received a call from Noor Mfg. advising us the crosshead guide was ready to be picked up. It was retrieved immediately and bolted up to the locomotive. Tramming resumed and by Saturday we were satisfied with the results.
Elsewhere on site more cleaning and painting of the backhead and stayed boiler sections was accomplished along with the cab steps for open house.
The machine shop continued fabricating future hydro parts and pieces for the lubricator line flush equipment. Brake pins and bushings were also being turned out.
Work resumed this week on the merchandise store. Materials were procured for the 4 x 4 columns and a doorway. Floor plates were cut to length.
Full staybolt sleeve replacement welding continued this week as well as fabricating superheater bundles.
As we say goodbye to August and head into September, it is time to promote the open house on September 27th. Invite friends, relatives and coworkers to the site so they can see first hand the work each one of you are doing. Use your email and Facebook lists. If you frequent a business ask if you can hang a flyer somewhere. With everyone’s participation we could have another record breaking attendance. Flyers are available in the World Headquarters, Reefer or online. If you’re going to our website at the bottom of the first page you’ll see a printable copy of the flyer in living color done by our volunteers down in FL.
Bob D. will serve as CMO for the next two weeks.
Hope to see you at the site soon, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
