Gail and I are back to work after a couple of weeks of R & R. While we were gone some good progress was made in several areas of work. Thanks to Tom G. for taking over in my absence and for Gail’s replacement it was Janet P. Thank you both!
Both of the steam cylinder valves were installed, and the front covers along with the rear packing.
The electricians completed the MU cable connection to the MU box in the cab.
The last blow-down pipe to the muffler was installed, a tight fit to be sure.
The second dynamo was reconnected and it’s common drain line installed together with the first dynamo.
As usual the jacketing project continues, at least until the top of the black boiler surface gets to hot to work.
Preparations were being made to install the drifting valves. Cylinders have also been cleaned and honed. Guide rods were fabricated to help with the install.
The cold water supply line was installed from the cold water boiler feed pump elbow to the boiler water sample device.
The replacement safety valve springs arrived last week. Prior to that a pressure test device was fabricated.
Also arriving was a year’s supply of boiler chemicals. Volunteers moved around several pieces of heavy equipment for the tool car so the chemicals can be stored. The end of the container is being roomed off to house those chemicals in a controlled environment.
Other then that preparations are being made for the Annual Open House this coming weekend. Come see us and invite all your friends if they are available! Bring cameras!!
Hope to see everyone this week, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
