Work resumed this week on the buddy steam pipe enlargement. Most everything is done except for waiting on delivery of a 300# steam rated globe valve.
All the supporting apparatus pieces were cut and welded for the rethreading of the male root valve threads. That process began Saturday at a very cautious and slow pace. More work will be done this Wednesday.
The forge masters have been working feverously pouring 2926 bronze tender badges as requests have now totaled over 50. Order yours today at this email until our store manager returns the end of October. For those that want them sent, we need your name, address to be shipped and $110. The $10 will cover the cost of shipping with $100 worth of insurance on the USPS package. You can either pay online at PayPal, or send a check to NMSL&RHS, PO Box 27270, ABQ, NM 87125.
The forward blowdown pipe, which we use to circulate the water where heating begins, was protruding out past the side of the firebox. It was removed, shortened and reinstalled. It could have been a head knocker for some of our smaller visitors.
Our Wednesday electricians were connecting the wiring for the cab and rear deck lights.
On Saturday it seemed as if we were having a mini open house as over 50 visitors signed in on the log book. Most of them were from the hot air balloon fiesta and were looking for something to do and found us on Trip Advisor, which we are now ranked #4 best activity to see in Albuquerque. Many of those visitors had spouses, relatives and children. Always good to see our visitors!
Hope to see everyone this week at the site ready to continue tasks, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
