Hello all,
We had an abbreviated work week as the first winter storm moved in. Wednesday morning brought a steady light drizzle of rain. Volunteers began the usual work of flexible staybolt sleeve grinding prepping new sleeves and welding new ones to the firebox.
Independent brake piping was being tested. Several leaks were detected and repairs began.
The last of the trailing truck slack adjuster pins were machined and drilled for cotter pins.
More layout design work was being done on the radial buffer replacement parts. Paper templates need to be drawn in order to cut the remaining pieces.
Just before noon the steady drizzle became rain so we all called it a day.
Saturday morning arrived with wind chill temperatures around 16°. Although the work site remained closed a few souls showed up but went home shortly.
As a reminder the site remains closed until Saturday, November 30th in observance of Thanksgiving. Enjoy the time off with family and friends. Gail and I wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Hope to see you at the site, and as usual . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
