Wednesday was a rollback day for rolling the engine back into the engine house, disconnecting the tender then pulling the engine back out to work on it. Some of the Christmas lights were removed from the engine which were installed for last week’s Pinon Express expo put on by the Albuquerque Trolley people.
More sheet metal templates were built.
Installation of the boiler steam pressure gauge began with the various parts provided. The mounting bracket needed a larger hole for the fittings to go through so one was drilled.
More small fittings were installed for the 26L air brake system. Another hose was ordered and can be installed this coming Wednesday.
Lurch’s front two rebuilt brake calipers are performing well. The replacement bogie cylinder was installed on the right front set of bogies since that one leaked more than the other three. The removed bogie was taken to the hydraulic shop and was rebuilt. It can be installed this coming Wednesday.
This Christmas Eve we will be again decorating the engine and tender with lights and Luminaria. The public is welcome from 6 – 10 PM. Dr. Mike has requested that we all bring in some cookies to give to our guests. We need as many volunteers as we can get so please make an effort to attend this special function. (For those of you that are in and around the ABQ area.)
Gail and I wish you all a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and hope to see you at the site this week and Christmas Eve, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
