Small bore piping for the bell ringer has been installed. The stack lifter piping is an ongoing project.
The superheater bundle hydro project is close to being finished. A few more work sessions should complete that project.
We received all the insulation needed for the locomotive last Wednesday. This material was purchased via a NRHS grant awarded last year. After some house cleaning we were able to make space for it in one of the storage containers.
Cab work continues as volunteers are positioning various components and solenoid valves. New brackets are being designed and fabricated.
The throttle valve lifting shaft was installed and connected to the control rods. A worker in the cab was able to operate it easily. All valves operated properly. A video of those valves operating is forthcoming.
A 230 volt power supply was installed in the engine house in the event it is needed in the future such as welding. An electric AC/DC welder was donated to us a couple of years back by the 412 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, so it was placed in the engine house.
A safety refresher class will be held on February 25th at 9:00 AM for those that missed the last one. The place will probably be on site, but stay tuned for any announcements on that. A new member class will be held on March 4th at 9:00 AM sharp in the Reefer Office.
Again, if you are reading this and you have not yet paid your membership donations, please pay either by check to our PO Box located on the website or by PayPal. Someone, probably locally, paid their membership renewal in the merchandise store and no one got the name. If you think you were that person, please let us know. It was probably in December or early January. We believe it was an Individual Membership renewal. Sometimes things get by us without writing things down.
If we don’t hear from you regarding your renewals, emails will start going out sometime in March reminding individuals we have not received it and if you intend to renew. Please make Gail’s job easier if you haven’t yet renewed. Thank you to everyone for your donations thus far.
This week it will be hitting around 70° on Friday, so maybe Saturday will hang in with warm temps. Hope to see everyone at the site this week, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
