Hello all,
The last superheater pipe bundle was finished Saturday. Photos were taken then the bundle was racked in the storage container. Parts have been milled for the hydro testing of the bundles and await to be assembled.
The commercially provided staybolt blanks have been threaded on both ends. They are now being fitted into their individual locations. Measurements are being taken to perform the final cut to length.
Work continues on the firebox damper and related parts. The damper door is being fabricated and it’s hinges upgraded.
With the arrival of pins and bushings the brake shoe supports and levers are being installed on the fireman’s side.
Tender to engine water hoses are being disassembled so new hoses can be procured. The new hoses will be fitted to the existing connections.
Various other parts are still being removed from storage, cleaned and readied for paint.
Broken stud bolt removal is ongoing on various locations around the firebox and mud ring.
Weather is still hot, so be sure you hydrate and get out of the sun when possible.
Hope to see you at the site this week, and as always . . .

As a side note:
Every year we provide the LUCC (Landmark and Urban Conservation Commission) with a report. Our President, Dr. Mike Hartshorne, is responsible for generating the report and submitting it. We received a response from them this year from James Clark, Chairman. Their response, a favorable one, can be viewed HERE.
