Flexible lubrication lines were procured and many were installed. More will be done this coming week.
The firing deck along with it’s rear support was installed. This is a new deck as the original was in poor condition due to metal wasting. Holes are being drilled and cut for pass through pipes and lever rods.
Work on the sand dome continues as long rectangle metal patches were installed to seal the wasted areas.
The metal end connectors for the tender to locomotive cold water supply have been reconditioned. They will be inserted into the new water hoses.
The combustion air inlet tubes are in poor condition. We removed the entire assemblies from both sides of the firebox. The seal welds are being ground away so the tubes can be removed and replaced. Those replacement tubes are being cut and readied for welding to the existing plate.
A new connection was welded to the cold water supply pipe downstream from the pump. It will be used for a flow indicator which will provide gallons per minute information to the fireman.
The fuel oil fill piping was reinstalled on the tender. It was removed to fix an oil leak behind the pipes. All the pipes were then repainted.
Planning and preparations began for the annual Open House to be held September 26th. Please get the word out to all your friends, neighbors and associates. The hours are the same, 9:00 – 4:00. You can find and download our flyer on our website and pass them out wherever you can!
Hope to see everyone at the site this week, and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
