Preparations for the open house continued this week as volunteers began rearranging the maximum usefulness and public safety.
While clean-up was ongoing a few projects continued.
Final alignment was done for the cab and all remaining bolts were installed.
The engineer’s side combustion air tube assembly was welded out. Both sides are now done. Each side consisted of forty (40) 2 1/4″ tubes welded to the plates.
Both air reservoirs were lifted into place. A suitable material for cushioning them in their supports will be installed later.
The machine shop fabricated four brass adapters for the water level sight glasses received last week.
This week I don’t anticipate any restoration work to be performed due to final preparations Wednesday for the open house on Saturday. We need all available volunteers Wednesday for final set-up and on Saturday for what will be a major event this year. Please plan to arrive on Saturday at 7:00 AM.
Hope to see everyone at the site this week, and as usual . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
