Over the past two weeks work has been focusing on tiny boiler leaks at staybolt caps, washout plugs and various threaded connections.
The sand dome welding is complete. The welds are being ground smooth for future paint work.
Most if not all of the new brake shoes are being hand ground on the back side to custom fit them to the shoe hanger. This will provide even pressure to the entire length of the shoe when the brakes are applied.
Mother nature has not been nice to us the past two Wednesday sessions as two separate frontal systems brought rain which derailed the work sessions.
Pipes are being insulated as needed. A protection sealant is then applied. Many more feet will need to be done.
This Saturday the General Membership meeting will begin at 8:30 AM. If you can please come a bit early to help with chairs. Hope to see you at the site and as always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
