All the new lubrication lines have now been installed. We will begin pumping lubricant through them and check for any leaks.
Planning for the air brake stand is mostly complete. We plan to begin assembling and mounting the various parts needed for the new stand.
Most of the staybolt leaks have been addressed. We plan to re-air test the boiler in the near future.
Workers are busily insulating the various steam and hot water pipes. However the cold weather has prevented us from applying the protective coating.
The locomotive’s trailing trucks were positioned over the pit allowing more brake shoe work to be done. Several had been hand-fitted to their backings so equal pressure will be applied to all surfaces. Those completed were installed Saturday. More work yet to be done.
Another stud bolt repair was completed last week. A bottoming tap was procured to finish the job.
The repairs of the atomizer/burner plate was completed Saturday. It will be installed when it can be accessed over the pit.
If you haven’t seen our Christmas and the Open House videos you need to check out our website for the new info! Thanks to Jim and Debbie from the Florida area for doing that Christmas surprise for all to see! (www.2926.us) They also put together the Open House video as well. You can find it on the Video Tab on the website. Great work!
Hope to see everyone at the site this week. It could be cold and snowing/raining depending upon where you live, so be prepared. Saturday looks to be the worse for wear. Gail and I hope that you all have a Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year!
As always . . .
Keep on Steamin’,
