Work Session Status Week Ending 12/26/2015

This past Wednesday workers built a ply board shipping box for the ATS unit. It is being sent off to be checked out.

All the trailing truck brake shoes have been reinstalled. Slack adjusters were being prepped for reinstallation.

Temporary brake stand supports were built and installed so some of the various assemblies could be mounted. This will allow us to do piping layout and design work.

The afternoon temps allowed us to do a little parts painting. One of the slack adjusters and one side of the sander valves housing received paint.

The winter solstice is now behind us so the daylight hours are getting longer supposedly giving us warmer work sessions. Yea, right. We were snowed out on Saturday, blustery winds and the 2926 got another dose of the wintry weather. The high temperatures this coming week will barely get above the freezing mark.

As a reminder please send in your annual membership donations. We’ve been getting lots of donations in already, but we need everyone to renew as soon as you can. We still have been getting returned Christmas cards due to people moving or changing their address, so if you have not received your Christmas card with renewal, we don’t have a current address for you. Please email us if you have not received yours. For those that can, send some extra for the budget or engine house, but you must be specific if it’s for the engine house. Otherwise it will go in as an arbitrary donation and not for the engine house. Thanks so much for all of you who have already sent in your donations!

Our friend, John H., completed the electronic “innards” for the foam meter. The compact assembly will be installed inside the original foam meter case. The case cover will now need to be fabricated. John also provided us with a solid state cold water flow gauge fabricated from an antique ship’s clock. It’s beautiful!

Hope to see everyone at the site this week even though temps will be cold. Dress warm and come to work as long as we can
